Sam Yun
Pastor Sam Yun, often referred to as P. Sam, has been in the ordained ministry in The United Methodist Church for thirty years. After having pastored various churches in Southern California and the Bay Area and planting Embrace Church located in Alameda, he is now the Senior Pastor of San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church. He is passionate about being of fisher of men and a fisher of fish and spends most of his time in either of those two pursuits. P. Sam is married to Sun Hee who is also a United Methodist pastor and has three adult sons, Philip (29), Evan (26), and Kevin (24)… who are all taller than he is. Some of P. Sam’s other interests: K-drama and K-bbq, stand-up comedy, concept of time, the Golden State Warriors, music, and cute little dogs. His favorite scripture: Ephesians 3:20-21. His core theological conviction: “As long as I’m alive and you’re alive, God is not done with us yet. In fact, the best is yet to come.”

Peter Park
Upon coming to the United States and completing Master of Divinity degree, he fell in love with scripture-based, spirit-filled, intellectually compelling, and traditionally innovative Wesleyan theology. P. Park served youth and college groups at Atlanta Bethany UMC in Sugar Hill, Georgia from 2006-2013. After coming to Berkeley, California, he served youth and children’s ministry at Berkeley Korean UMC in Oakland from 2013 to 2018. Previously, he served at San Ramon Grace United Methodist Church as a solo pastor (2018-2021) and at Santa Rosa First United Methodist Church as an Associate Pastor, and currently he is serving at Yuba City First United Methodist Church as a Senior Pastor.
With a passion for serving others, his ministry is focused on deepening the relationships with one another and with God. His favorite Bible verse is Philippians 3:13-14: “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Sungrae Kim
Affectionately known as Pastor Rae—is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and currently serves as the lead pastor of Aldersgate UMC in Palo Alto. Pastor Rae’s academic studies centered on the religious identity of Korean Christians and the pursuit of interreligious peacebuilding, a passion that continues to inform his preaching, teaching, and community engagement. In the pulpit and beyond, he strives to build bridges—between generations, cultures, and faith communities.
Outside the church, Pastor Rae finds joy in music. A music lover and occasional songwriter, he has composed a number of songs for the Advent season, blending theology and creativity in worshipful ways. He also cherishes family life with his wife, Soojin Hyun, and their two children, Aiden (15) and Lucy (12), who keep his heart full and his schedule lively.
Guided by his favorite scripture, Philippians 4:4–7, Pastor Rae, for his daily spiritual journey, strives to "rejoice in the Lord always" and to find the peace of God that "surpasses all understanding.”

I’m honored and grateful to share a part of my faith journey with you through Unity Retreat.
As a 1.5-generation Korean-American, I’ve lived in the Bay Area for over 30 years. My journey has taken me through studies in Music, Art, and ultimately, Theology - a path that may seem unconventional, but one that has given me a broader perspective and deeper understanding of life and faith.
Currently, I serve as the English Ministry Pastor at the Korean United Methodist Church of Santa Clara Valley. Over the years, leading Unity Retreat has shaped my heart and deepened my understanding of the unique challenges and needs of youth and the rising generation.
Wherever you may be in your own journey, know that I’m here, ready to walk alongside you. And if you ever want to strike up a conversation, I’m all ears and always up for it!
